Our social enterprise offers inmates a viable alternative to economically motivated crimes: dignified and well-paid work within the prison walls and after release. Prisoners who are employed as screen printers by our social enterprise earn about 4 times more than the average monthly earnings from extortion. This project focuses specifically on providing economic opportunities to people in 4 prisons in Guatemala. When inmates can earn a reliable income, they reject crime and can provide critical financial resources for food, housing, medical care, school fees and other necessary living expenses for their family and children, helping to lift them out of poverty.
